Downtown credit union to move

YOUNGSTOWN
Edison Financial Credit Union is moving its downtown offices to one central location in Austintown, CEO David Beckhorn said Wednesday.
The move is taking place this weekend, he said.
“We have been studying where we should be located,” Beckhorn said. “We studied to find out what would be best for our membership, so we determined that Austintown” is that location.
Edison Financial Credit Union is a locally owned, state-chartered credit union established in 1940 in Youngstown. The downtown location was built in the 1970s. Today, the credit union has approximately 6,000 members.
With the move will come some layoffs, Beckhorn said, but he would not say how many.
“I think it is just a general adjustment to the general economic climate,” Beckhorn said. “We have been looking at this for many years, and this has gone on for many years, and this is the only solution.”
The 6,344-square-foot property was sold to VVA LLC of Brandon Avenue in Youngstown on Sept. 3 for $220,000, according to the Mahoning County Auditor’s website.
Members should go to the Austintown branch at 6000 Mahoning Ave. in the Austintown Plaza for their banking needs. The location is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. This location has an outside ATM.
