SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The Scheetz Chuey Charitable Foundation recently announced the creation of the Carl F. Chuey Endowment at Washington State University. The endowment will be used in conjunction with the Samuel Smith Plant Pathology Distinguished Professorship for research supporting the identification, control and elimination of virus diseases in dahlia gardens. Dr. Chuey was a biology professor for 47 years at Youngstown State University. From left to right are Ron Miner, policy chairman and past president of the American Dahlia Society; Dr. Hanu Pappu, department chairman and the President Sam Smith distinguished professor in plant virology at WSU; and Jim Chuey, representing the foundation. Chuey presented a check for $350,000 to Pappu for continued research on dahlia viruses at the Midwest Dahlia Conference Show at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park.
