UPDATE: Police arrest man after shots fired on Park Hill
YOUNGSTOWN — No one was injured after a city police officer fired several shots at a man at a South Side home about 8:20 a.m. today.
Police were called to a 1126 Park Hill Ave. home by a man and when officers showed up, the homeowner was outside with a gun in his hand.
Police said the man pointed the gun and an officer fired several shots at him but missed. The glass in the front storm door was shattered and the man retreated into his home.
Mahoning County sheriff’s deputies, US Marshals and city police officers blocked off the street and talked the man out his house after about 20 minutes. He could be heard telling police his family set him up because they wanted his money and that he couldn’t believe he was shot at.
The officer who was involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave while the department’s Internal Affairs Division investigates. They would not release the identity of the officer who fired the shots.
It is standard for an officer to be placed on administrative leave whenever they fire their weapon at someone.
