MYCAP | After Head Start
The Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Partnership has restructured and stabilized itself with an eye toward growing. Action taken and contemplated to stabilize, sustain and scale the agency:
All staff was moved to the first floor of its headquarters at 1325 Fifth Ave. in Youngstown with the goal of renting out the second floor to generate income.
MYCAP is attempting to restructure its mortgage on its headquarters building from 15 to 30 years to lower the monthly payment.
Based on a community-needs assessment, MYCAP believes it can provide day-care services, something it did successfully in connection with the Head Start program, and provide child-care training and programming to generate income.
Administrative staff members took between 10- and 15-percent cuts in pay while their responsibilities increased to include program and direct services to customers.
