Mooney boys, Lakeview girls advance to state golf tournament

Junior Nick Braydich and sophomore Ken Keller each shot a 75 to help Cardinal Mooney finish third at Tuesday’s Division II district golf tournament at Windmill Lakes.
Junior Joey Passerotti added an 82 and senior Nick Hough had an 84 as the Cardinals finished with a score of 316 to capture the final state qualifying berth.
Canton Central Catholic won with 302 and Chagrin Falls was second with 312.
Lakeview was 11th in the 12-team tournament with 352 and Girard 12th (365).
Division II girls
CANTON
Kaylee Neumeister shot a 77 to lead Lakeview to the Division II district title at Tam O’Shanter Hills Course.
The Bulldogs finished with 333, while Notre Dame Cathedral Latin was second with 337 and Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown earned the final state qualifying spot with a 360.
Lakeview’s Ashley Frasca (82), Ryan Rosenberger (85) and Taylor Horn (89) rounded out the scoring.
Columbiana finished fifth (367), Warren JFK was seventh (376), Hubbard was ninth (402) and Mooney was 10th (402) in the 12-team tournament.
LaBrae’s Haley Harford shot a 68 to earn overall medalist honors and qualify for the state tournament as an individual.
Hawken’s Isabella Joseph (7) and Brooklyn’s Amanda Baker (79) also qualified as individuals.
