YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested two men who each had warrants after an officer tried to pull over a car in which they were riding for not having a license- plate light about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday on the South Side.

Reports said a car driven by Ricky Raymond, 27, of Boardman was going south on Rush Boulevard and passed a police car going in the opposite direction. The officer turned around and turned on his lights, and the car turned in to a drive at a vacant home in the 3000 block of Rush Boulevard, reports said.

Reports said Raymond and his passenger, 31-year-old Jarrett Ortiz of Struthers, got out of the car and walked toward the officer. The officer ordered them to the ground at gunpoint, and they were handcuffed when other officers arrived.

A records check revealed Raymond has three open suspensions on his license and a warrant from municipal court for failing to appear in court. Ortiz has warrants for failure to appear, drug paraphernalia, criminal mischief, carrying a concealed weapon and theft. Both men were taken to the Mahoning County jail on their warrants. Raymond was given an additional citation for driving under suspension.
