Former area author announces new work

TOLEDO

“Mommy’s Writings Series Book 1,” a true story, takes place in Warren, and the author, Suzanne McMillen-Fallon, once resided in Howland Township. She now lives in Toledo.

Her book, which shares the story of her life, will be released in May 2015.

As the author describes it, “Mommy’s Writings” is a memoir about the love between a mother and her young son and a great-grandmother whose intense devotion to the two kept their family together.

It is a story of a rather prominent family that once resided in Howland Township.

Author will present her novel, ‘Speakeasy’

Local author and artist Karen Biery will present her latest book, “Speakeasy,” at 6 p.m. Monday at the Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St.

The new novel’s setting is Salem.

Second Tuesday event set for Knox Building

The Pig Iron Literary & Art Works has scheduled its Second Tuesday Open Poetry Reading at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the McKelvey Gallery in the Knox Building, 110 W. Federal St., downtown.

Those attending are invited to read their personal poems or favorite poems, up to eight minutes of podium time. Sign up only at the door.

Sponsors of the newly located open poetry reading series are Pig Iron Press, Martini Bros Burger Bar and Lemon Grove Enterprises. Organizers are Jim Villani and Jacob Harver.

Youngstown writer will sign new book

AUSTINTOWN

Youngstown author Judy Eiland II will sign copies of her book, “Unequally Wed and the Broken Vow,” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Panera Bread, 5503 Mahoning Ave.

In her book, the author pours out all the devastation she felt over divorce and the spiritual healing she received from God afterward.

She said she learned that people need to seek the Lord in everything that they do, because love is not enough.

She is a single mother to 1-year-old Rachel.
