DIVA Donations plans mystery dinner

AUSTINTOWN

Diva Donations has enlisted Dark Shadows Ghost Tours to help raise funds for the charity by organizing a Holiday Mystery Dinner, set for 6 p.m. Friday at the Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road.

The organization, established in 2012, is a formal-clothing closet serving needy families in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

For the mystery dinner, “A Night at the Scrooges,” Ebenezer did marry, and he left most of his fortune to a private preparatory school called Scrooges University.

You (as alumni or descendants of Ebenezer) are invited to come to the annual reading of “A Christmas Carol,” but this year, unbeknownst to the alumni, in addition to the reading of the Dickens classic, they also will find out that the school is running out of money and not able to keep the doors open.

Although tuition costs have been raised, it is still not enough to meet the operational costs, and this may be the last year for the school.

The administration will ask everyone to join in to help solve this problem, offer some fundraising suggestions, or aid in the decision to close the school.

You never know what may happen; the spirit of Scrooge himself may even show up to shine some light on the financial issues of the institution.

Your ticket will provide dinner, dessert and coffee tea or water; a souvenir photo; a souvenir favor; entertainment; a chance to win door prizes; and a chance to win a 32-inch LCD television.

Tickets are available as individuals or by tables of eight.

A cash bar will be available. To guarantee seating with your party, purchase your tickets together.

This is a child-friendly event, though there are no reduced ticket prices for children.
