Submit information on services for Christmas, New Year

The Vindicator will publish a listing of area services that are open to the public in observance of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The Christmas services list will run on the Religion page Dec. 20 and New Year’s list, Dec. 27.

The deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. Dec. 17.

Information should include the denomination and name of the church, address, city or suburb and time of services. The information should be accompanied by a name and a phone number for verification or any questions.

Blue Christmas

BOARDMAN

Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, will conduct a Blue Christmas service at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel for those who grieve a loss during the holidays.

There will be music, Scripture, poem readings and message of hope.

To Bethlehem

BOARDMAN

Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road, will present “Journey to Bethlehem” from 1 to 4 p.m. next Saturday.

This live Nativity re- creates the sights and sounds of the times when Jesus was born. Visitors will be greeted by Roman soldiers, have an audience with King Herod and see angels, wise men with their camels and shepherds tending their flock.

Fellowship Hall will be transformed into Bethlehem’s marketplace, where visitors may get refreshments.

Donations of nonperishable food items and monetary donations will go to Project Feed Our Valley that benefits Second Harvest Food Bank. For information, call the church office at 330-758-8189 or visit hhtp://dcc4boardman.net.

Free screening

CANFIELD

A free screening of the movie “Mary of Nazareth,” will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Family Life Center at St. Michael Church, 300 N. Broad St. The full-length feature film, produced by Ignatius Press, focuses on the life of Mary, mother of Christ, from her childhood through the Resurrection of Jesus.

The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown Offices of Evangelization, Pro-life, Marriage and Family, and the pro-life group of Men and Women United for Life are co-sponsors of the event that is free and open to the public. The movie is appropriate for ages 11 and older. Refreshments will be served. DVDs will be sold.

Drive-thru Nativity

Kings Chapel United Methodist Church, 861 Old Pulaski Road, will stage its 21st and final “Drive-thru Nativity” from 6 to 9 p.m. next Saturday and Dec. 7. The free event consists of 11 scenes set up around the church parking lot. Live actors and animals bring the scenes to life. For information, call 724-658-7569.

Walk with Jesus

First Christian Church of Columbiana, 39 Cherry St., will present “Walk with Jesus,” an interactive Christmas drama, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Admission is free. Visit www.fccalive.net.

Choir anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN

New Generation choir of Phillips Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 1407 Victor Ave., will mark its anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday. Young adult choirs, soloist, praise dancers and mimes are invited to participate.
