Jazz-funk ensemble SounDoctrine will release its new digital single, “After All,” via its website this weekend.
It will also be available at iTunes and Amazon, but not Spotify and Pandora.
“We’ve decided to keep our new songs off of those sites that devalue music by maintaining unfair pricing policies toward the songwriters and artists,” said drummer and producer Jere B.
“Musicians should preserve the option to set their own prices or choose to give their music away.”
The new song will be available for just 50 cents from Friday to Sunday at Soun-Doctrine.com.
The price will be 89 cents thereafter.
The digital single, written by Jim Couchenour, features saxophonist Michael Austin, guitarist Mike Donadio, arranger Frank Walton on keyboards, and bassist Dylan Waters.
It was recorded and mixed by Jerry Thompson at Listen Studios in Girard.
The band is planning to release a full album, “Source,” in the spring.
