A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships, Girard and Liberty:

POLAND

Nov. 18

Criminal damaging: A Cobblers Run Drive man reported a piece of property damaged.

Theft: A South Hubbard Road man reported a $1,200 diamond bracelet stolen.

Nov. 23

Arrest: A traffic stop near Clingan Road resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Ronald E. Sarver III of Overlook Boulevard, Struthers, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

BOARDMAN

Nov. 20

Arrest: Austintown police handed to township authorities 34-year-old William T. Darkadakis of Lancaster Drive, Austintown, who was charged with theft by deception related to a Sept. 20 incident in which a Grover Drive man alleged Darkadakis had convinced him to withdraw $40, including $30 to buy a new part for a business-owned piece of machinery. In reality, however, Darkadakis had been fired from the company, police said.

Domestic violence: Sufal M. Khan, 30, of Springfield, Va., surrendered on a warrant related to an Aug. 22 situation in which his wife, of Jamaica, N.Y., alleged Khan had threatened several times over the phone to kill the accuser while she was at a family member’s Mill Creek Boulevard home.

Drugs: Melissa J. Woodring of Hewitt-Gifford Road, Warren, was charged with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia after police had pulled her over near Thalia Avenue. The 27-year-old Woodring had six syringes, a suspected crack-cocaine pipe and two spoons with burn marks common in drug use, a report said.

Misuse of a credit card: The owner of a Bishop Woods Court business found out someone had used a business credit card without authorization to place a $270 online order.

Robbery: Authorities booked 23-year-old Tanicqwa T. Wilkerson, who listed Youngstown addresses on Parkcliffe and East Boston avenues, on a robbery charge after $259 worth of merchandise was stolen from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road. Wilkerson also shoved and bit a loss-prevention official’s left hand as he tried to detain her, a police report showed.

Theft: Henry Smith Jr. 52, of McGuffey Road, Youngstown, was charged with stealing $25.75 worth of merchandise from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall. Smith also was wanted on a felony warrant charging breaking and entering.

Drugs: Authorities charged Mesean E. Fletcher, 41, of Terrace Drive, Boardman, with one felony count of permitting drug abuse based on a Nov. 14 search of the residence, which, police alleged, turned up a bag of suspected marijuana, two jars containing suspected marijuana residue, several suspected marijuana pipes and other contraband.

Nov. 21

Aggravated menacing: A Parkside Drive woman reported a caller claiming to represent the Internal Revenue Service said she would be arrested if she failed to pay money she supposedly owed. The caller also threatened to kill the accuser and her family.

Attempted assault: Two Shields Road women told authorities another woman intentionally accelerated toward them in her car, though neither was struck.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court via a rear basement window. A Sony PlayStation 4 system was among items taken.

Fraud: A teacher at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., noticed while checking her bank account online, that someone had made an unauthorized $200 charge for an airline ticket to Bogota, Columbia.

Theft: A woman recovered her purse after having reported it stolen while at a Boardman-Canfield Road store, though various items were missing.

Domestic violence: Paul A. Gribben, 34, of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his wife alleged Gribben had pointed a firearm at her and threatened to kill the accuser if she didn’t leave his property during an argument pertaining to divorce papers.

Burglary: Took place in the 6000 block of Sheridan Road through a rear door. Stolen were an $850 men’s bicycle and other, smaller items.

Theft: Carl Wallace, 46, of Idora Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing about $21.50 worth of cleaning supplies from Family Dollar, 4028 Market St.

Criminal damaging: A hole, likely from a BB or a pellet, was discovered in the side of a garage in the 5000 block of Friendship Avenue.

Theft: Alex A. Parent, 29, of Sierra Madre Trail, Boardman, and 31-year-old Michael A. Carosella of Ridgelawn Drive, Youngstown, were charged in the theft of $67 worth of shampoo and hair-dye products from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Nov. 22

Burglary: To a residence in the 50 block of Prestwick Drive via forced entry. Two doors sustained $600 in damage.

Theft: A 15-year-old Youngstown boy was accused of stealing about $22 worth of merchandise, including candy, from Family Dollar, 4026 South Ave.

Theft: Officers charged Sara C. McManus of Arden Boulevard, Youngstown, with theft after accusing the 33-year-old woman of taking two Wii remote-control devices from Walmart.

Burglary: Someone stole a $2,700 men’s wristwatch after having broken into a home in the 4900 block of Grover Drive.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported her $250 cellphone stolen while at Shops at Boardman Park.

Theft: A man in his mid-50s took $96 worth of merchandise from Fin, Feather and Fur Outfitters, 1138 Boardman-Poland Road.

Citation: A traffic stop in the 100 block of Erskine Avenue resulted in a citation charging 19-year-old Ryan M. Ebie with operating a vehicle impaired. Ebie, of Appleridge Drive, Boardman, had a 0.085 blood-alcohol count, a report showed.

Theft: Casey R. Carter of Commerce Rear Street, Wellsville, was charged with taking nine articles of women’s clothing valued at $281 from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.

Burglary: Someone broke into a garage in the 5500 block of West Boulevard and stole two motorcycles.

Theft: A woman stole items from Dick’s Sporting Goods, 550 Boardman-Poland Road, then left in a black two-door Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

Harassment: An East Parkside Drive man told officers a caller claiming to be with the IRS instructed him to buy three money cards totaling $1,512. The accuser apparently knew it was a scam, however, and neither lost money nor provided personal information.

Theft: A man stole $59 worth of merchandise, including a four-pack of T-shirts, from Walmart.

Theft/drugs: Authorities charged 36-year-old Amber G. Jones with theft and possession of drug-abuse instruments after two DVDs were stolen from Walmart. Jones, of Ohio Avenue, Salem, also had a hypodermic needle in her purse, police said.

Theft: Johnesha M. Hailes, 18, and Jasmine A. Atchison, 22, were taken into custody near U.S. Route 224 and state Route 7 on theft charges. The two Akron women were accused of stealing roughly $315 worth of property from Five Below, 411 Boardman-Poland Road.

Nov. 23

Criminal damaging: A woman discovered two bullet holes in a portion of siding on her Midgewood Drive residence. She also noticed two lights had been damaged.

Theft: A Southern Park Mall employee told officers a man borrowed but failed to return a $50 electronic tablet to her.

Criminal damaging: Someone used a rock to break and do $500 in damage to a window at a business in the 8300 block of Market Street.

Theft: An employee with a Doral Drive big-box store discovered her debit card missing while at work.

Burglary: A Willow Drive woman alleged her former landlord entered her apartment and tampered with a screen door and the thermostat.

Nov. 24

Criminal damaging: An Indianola Road woman alleged her boyfriend broke her $300 cellphone as the two fought.

GIRARD

Nov. 20

Aggravated menacing: An East Wilson Avenue man alleged his daughter’s boyfriend had threatened to come to the accuser’s residence and shoot him.

Misuse of a credit card: Three people reportedly tried to use possibly stolen cards to buy about $900 worth of merchandise from Family Dollar, 910 N. State St.

Assault: A North Avenue woman told officers a neighbor grabbed her hand and used it to hit himself in the head.

Breaking and entering: Someone forcibly entered LAS Recycling Inc., 1025 Bundy Lane, though it was unknown if anything had been stolen.

Harassment: A Parkview Drive man reported a caller claiming to represent the U.S. Department of Justice said he owes the government $5,736 and warned that a warrant would be issued for his arrest if he failed to pay that amount.

Nov. 21

Assault: A man reported having been assaulted while in the 200 block of South Davis Street.

Theft: A 30-inch cabinet was removed from a business in the 200 block of North State Street.

Nov. 22

Theft: A Parkview Drive man noticed roughly $80 missing from his residence.

Criminal mischief: Someone in a sport utility vehicle tossed garbage into a yard in the 200 block of Morris Avenue.

Menacing: A Trumbull Avenue male’s guardian told officers he has received harassing messages via Facebook, including implied threats.

Nov. 24

Arrest: Police responded to a vehicular accident near State Street before charging 87-year-old Emmor F. Snyder of Harry Street, Girard, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Menacing: A woman said that a man with whom she has ongoing problems had followed her in his vehicle near U.S. Route 422 and Interstate 80 before handing the accuser a four-page rambling letter.

LIBERTY

Nov. 19

Arrest: Police responded to a possible shoplifting situation at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, before taking into custody 38-year-old Judith G. Douglas of Oakwood Avenue, Youngstown, on a Liberty Township warrant. Douglas had not been charged with theft at the time of the report, however.

Harassment: An East Montrose Avenue man said his former girlfriend, 25, has made and sent unwanted calls and text messages to him.

Arrest: Authorities were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to pick up Orrin D. Mills of Norwood Avenue, Youngstown. The 43-year-old Mills was wanted on a township warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court.

Drugs: Officers responded to a possible theft at Walmart, where they charged 43-year-old Robert J. Leslie with possession of drug-abuse instruments. Leslie, of Pulaski Road, New Castle, Pa., had a bag of syringes common to drug use, police said.

Theft: A 50-year-old Campbell man reportedly stole two cases of energy drinks valued at $90 from Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave.

Nov. 20

Arrests: An officer who noticed someone panhandling in the Liberty Plaza took into custody Dawna M. Sayers, 32, of Scott Lane, Niles, and 56-year-old Edward R. Griffin of Center Street East, Warren, both of whom were wanted on warrants. Sayers was wanted on a burglary charge; Griffin was wanted on two misdemeanor Brookfield warrants.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Green Acres Drive led to a summons charging 22-year-old Patrick S. McKelvey of Cadwallader-Sonk Road, Cortland, with marijuana possession.

Identity fraud: A Millicent Avenue woman discovered her debit card had been used without authorization to make three online purchases totaling $776.

Identity theft: An elderly Colonial Drive man told police he received a letter from the Ohio Department of Taxation claiming inconsistencies were found in a 2013 state income-tax return on which was the accuser’s Social Security number. After contacting the agency, the man learned that someone had filed a return in his name and with his information.

Nov. 21

Drug paraphernalia: Melanie R. Carr, 30, of Hawthorn Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia when, police alleged, she had two suspected crack-cocaine pipes while at Walmart.

Trespassing: Police charged 54-year-old Kevin B. Carter of Cleveland with criminal trespassing after a Walmart loss-prevention official told authorities Carter was in the store trying to sell jewelry, despite having been banned from the property.

Drug paraphernalia: Officers answered a disturbance call in the 3700 block of Logan Way, then issued a summons charging 58-year-old June M. Slenker of Logan Way, Liberty, with having a suspected glass pipe for drug use.

Nov. 22

Arrest: Authorities responding to a car off the road near state Route 193 charged Erika C. Lacerva, 21, of North Ward Avenue, Girard, with operating a vehicle impaired and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Recovered property: An officer found an Ohio license plate while on routine patrol near state Route 193.

Nov. 23

Arrest: Niles authorities handed Demetrius D. Ward of Holly Drive, Liberty, to township police. Ward, 38, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant charging domestic violence.

Theft: A man reported a Sony PlayStation 4 system and six PlayStation games stolen from his Holly Drive apartment.

Nov. 24

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a Naylor-Lloyd Road rental home through a rear door, then took a $90 space heater.

Theft: A Tibbetts-Wick Road woman discovered $1,200 missing from a closet in her bedroom.

Nov. 25

Arrest: Campbell police apprehended and turned over to township authorities 33-year-old Tyrell P. Wilson of Woodside Avenue, Youngstown. He was wanted on a warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Robbery: A worker for Marco’s Pizza, 124 W. Liberty St., told authorities a man 6 feet 2 inches tall, in his 30s and wearing a black sweatshirt, pair of pants and stocking cap robbed him while he was stopped near Applegate Drive and Youngstown-Hubbard Road. The gunman walked away with a small amount of change, a report showed.
