Man reports assault

YOUNGSTOWN

A man told police he was punched in the face at a North Side gas station Tuesday evening, and someone fired several shots at his car.

Police were called to a home on Hubbard Road where a 22-year-old Campbell man told police he was driving on Saranac Avenue when he heard two gunshots about 7:15 p.m. but was not hit.

He then pulled into a gas station at 1425 Logan Ave. to pump gas, and as he was, a man he knows punched him in the face. The victim then got in his SUV and drove away while hearing several shots. He drove to the Hubbard Road home to call police.

The victim told police he used to use drugs and at one time traded the SUV for drugs, but his mother got the SUV back, and he thought the man was upset about that. Reports said the SUV’s back window and two passenger windows were shattered, and they found bullet holes in the door and seats. The victim was not injured.

Investigation

BOARDMAN

Township police are investigating after a parent reported that her daughter, a fourth-grade student at North Elementary in Poland, has been receiving explicit messages on a phone app from an unknown man.

The mother of the girl told police Tuesday that she began checking her daughter’s iPod after the girl’s friend sent the girl a message, saying she was scared because a man had sent her a picture of his genitals.

The mother of the victim then discovered that a male messaged her daughter Sunday and sent a picture of himself with no shirt. The suspect asked several times for the girl to send a picture of herself, and attempted to contact her via video call.

The suspect appeared to be 20 to 25 years old, according to the police report.
