Extra Boardman patrols for holiday

BOARDMAN

Township police will supplement regular patrols with high-visibility enforcement patrols during the week of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Police say the increased patrols are because Thanksgiving is the busiest travel time of the year, which increases the likelihood of crashes.

The police department reminds people to buckle up and says officers are prepared to issue tickets for seat-belt violations.

Officers will be targeting violators for aggressive driving, distracted driving and operating a motor vehicle while impaired.

Trumbull Tourism Bureau honored

WARREN

The Trumbull County Tourism Bureau recently received recognition for achievement in marketing and advertising at the Ohio Travel Association’s Ruby Awards presentation during this year’s Ohio Conference on Tourism.

The local organization received a citation of excellence Award for its Trumbull County Calendar of Event brochure series.

This is the second time the tourism bureau has won the award.

Strong wind caused mishap with car

WARREN

The wind may have contributed to a strange accident Monday afternoon that injured a pedestrian in the parking lot of the Elm Road Giant Eagle.

Carolyn Brindley of Warren reported that she started her car and put it in drive before she closed the driver’s door.

When she tried to close the door, the wind pulled the door back open and dragged her out of the car.

The car moved forward toward another row of parking spaces and struck a pedestrian, pinning the female pedestrian against another car.

The woman who was pinned suffered possible injuries and was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Warren Hospital. No injury was indicated for Brindley.
