Christmas starts Saturday at New Lease rescue

Though Thanksgiving’s only just here, Maria Guyan, founder of New Lease on Life Rescue in Struthers, says the animal shelter already is preparing for the Christmas season.

The shelter is hosting a special Christmas celebration for the public from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the 2773 E. Midlothian Blvd. location.

Guyan said the event will feature pictures with Santa and the animals, along with Christmas music and goodie bags for guests who stop in. The nonprofit has decked out its space with paper snowflakes, Christmas wall decorations and stuffed Christmas characters for the occasion.
