Man enters plea in slaying

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a 25-year-old man is facing a nine-year prison sentence as part of a plea deal that came after a southwest Ohio jury couldn’t reach a verdict in his case.

The Montgomery County prosecutor’s office said Brandon Dion Moxley pleaded no-contest on Monday to involuntary manslaughter with a gun specification.

Police say Moxley fatally shot 29-year-old Rodney Frost on June 19, 2013. He was arrested about two weeks later at the Cincinnati bus station after buying a ticket to Atlanta. He was indicted for aggravated murder, but jurors in his trial in September were unable to reach a verdict.

Prosecutors say the plea deal was worked out with the agreement of the victim’s family.

Moxley will be sentenced Dec. 18.
