Holiday tour, tea set by women’s club

COLUMBIANA

Columbiana Women’s Club will host a Christmas Holiday Tour and Tea from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 5 and 6.

The self-guided tour will feature, in addition to a tea at Columbiana Women’s Club location, the Charles Nelson Schmick House, Victorian Bed and Breakfast, the Kelker Flinn home, The Willows by Wehr and the Lamb home.

Tickets are $15 and are available at Vivan’s Antiques, Inside and Out Design, Charles Nelson Schmick House, Willows by Wehr, or the Women’s Club. Tickets and directions will be available at each location on event days.

Ruritans name blue-ribbon winners

BERLIN CENTER

Darlene Maxim of Austintown won the grand champion ribbon for a Cinnamon Sugar Cake in Berlin-Ellsworth Ruritan’s 2014 baking contest Nov. 1 at Western Reserve High School. She also won the cake division with Peanut Butter Brownie Cheese Cake.

Special recognition also went to Joann Grimm of Berlin Center for her Chocolate Pretzel Dessert.

Other blue ribbon winners were Mary Jo Furman of Berlin Center, elderberry, Kentucky Derby and cherry pies, and Darlene Mix of Berlin Center, apple pie.

Judges were Rob Rusu, Carol Robb and Jan SanMartino.
