Sharon Kiwanis names officers

SHARON, PA.

At a membership meeting of Sharon Kiwanis on Oct. 28 at Avalon at Buhl, 1030 Forker Blvd., officers were named.

Terry Shaffer of Sharon was named president. He is the pastor of Sharon First United Methodist Church.

Marci Radcliffe of Hermitage, Pa., was named vice president. She is assistant to the chief investment officer at F.N.B. Investment Advisors Inc.

Heartland School hosts veterans event

On Nov. 11, Heartland Christian School hosted a Veterans Day program.

The student body, teachers, parents and guests of honor — a dozen or so veterans — were in attendance, more than 300 in all.

The Leo Club led the service with prayer, readings, music and a tribute to those who have served or are actively serving.

Master Chief Sgt. Robert Johnson, who has served in the Air Force 35 years and serves in Coraopolis, Pa., with the 171st Refueling Wing, shared a poem titled “Veteran.”

Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Tim Harrington, who served 25 years, shared “Crucible Moments.” He is vice president and CEO of BOC Water Hydraulics in Salem.
