Owners and trainers are anxious to try their luck at the new 1-mile track built at the rear of the Hollywood Gaming property.
Phillip Bridges of Columbus, who has worked around thoroughbreds his entire life, says the facilities are excellent and are great for the owners and spectators alike.
Horse racing has its roots in ancient Greece. Many believe the horse is the only true athlete, as it doesn’t run for money or fame but just to run.
Scottish poet William H. Ogilvie summed up that thought in this poem:
The hooves of horses!
Oh! witching and sweet
Is the music earth steals from the iron-shod feet;
No whisper of lover, no trilling of bird,
Can stir me as much as hooves of horses
Have stirred.
