Jones for Revival’s new album is a journey that visits some of the band’s familiar aural landscapes and also goes in a few new directions.

The regional act will play a good bit of the self-titled album at a record release show on Thanksgiving eve at Suzie’s Dog and Drafts. Actually, the songs have been available individually in the JFR universe for a year, but the new album presents them as they were meant to be.

The album can be ordered online at iTunes and Spotify, and CDs will be sold for $5 at Wednesday’s show.

Setting the tone for the release is lead song “Who Are You,” which has a subtle message of self-discovery mixed with syncopated drums and sweet-spot guitar work.

Jim DeCapua, guitarist and vocalist, is partial to the song, which he describes as “completely different from anything we’ve done in the past.”

The second track, “Let’s Get Together,” reverts to JFR’s traditional jam-funk mode, and that pattern continues throughout the album, which includes remastered versions of “Fox” and “Astral Plane.”

“From beginning to end the album takes you on a journey of self-awakening,” said DeCapua.

One new song he’s very proud of is “Brain Diaper,” which has an offbeat groove. “I personally like it a lot,” he said. “I like playing it ... and it’s easy to dance to.”

Rounding out the release are the urgent-sounding “Rhombus 88” and “Friends,” a bouncy confection DeCapua wrote as a joke that proved to be too much fun to leave off the album.
