Catholic War Veterans and VFW Post 1423 are inviting the public and veterans to the 73rd annual Pearl Harbor Mass and remembrance at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 7 at St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown. Veterans posts will assemble at 10 a.m. in the church hall with their colors. Refreshments will be served in the church hall after the Mass. For information, call John E. Pet-food giveaway
GIRARD
Through a grant from Baltimore Life and a match from community funds, Legacy Dog Rescue will sponsor a holiday dog- and cat-food giveaway from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Girard Family Video, 801 N. State St. The giveaway is intended to help families who are having trouble feeding their pets while going through a hardship. The food will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Straw also may be available.
To qualify for the distribution, a family must be receiving government assistance such as Medicaid, food stamps, SSI, etc. If the family is not receiving assistance, they must show proof of being on unemployment insurance or a pay stub showing that they are 150 percent below the federal poverty guideline. A government-issued photo identification card is required.

The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission office, Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., Suite 100, will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. The office will reopen at 8 a.m. Dec. 1.
Senior Fun Day
BOARDMAN
Boardman Park will host a Senior Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Lariccia Family Community Center. Activities will include exercising, crafts, blood-pressure screening, bingo and lunch. The cost is $1. To RSVP, call 330-965-0428.
