Man from New Castle arraigned in death of Youngstown woman

NEW CASTLE, PA.

A New Castle man was arraigned Saturday in the death of a Youngstown woman.

Robert D. Johns, 40, was arrested and charged after Neshannock Township Police found the body of Amanda Seman, 26, at a New Castle residence on Falls Avenue on Friday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said the suspect and victim knew each other, and Seman was shot in the head after a confrontation with Johns.

They found Seman’s body after her mother reported she had not been in contact with her daughter since Tuesday and asked police to check the Falls Avenue residence.

Seman’s body was found in an upstairs bedroom. Johns also was found at the residence.

Mrs. Claus to read to children in Warren

The annual story time with Mrs. Claus will take place from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and 3:30 to 5 p.m. Dec. 14 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave NW.

Mrs. Claus will read to the children, and a picture will be taken with each child and Mrs. Claus. Children can decorate a frame for their picture, make a craft and enjoy a light lunch.

Parents and caregivers can enjoy refreshments in the Upton House library while the kids complete their activities. Cost is $10 per child, and reservations are required by calling 330-360-0901 by Saturday to request an application.

Man, 25, injured seriously after his car crashes into home

The driver of a car that hit a house in the township Saturday evening is hospitalized with serious injuries.

David Flask, 25, of Warren hit a house on Oak Hill Road with his 2002 Monte Carlo just after 7 p.m., Ohio State Highway Patrol investigators said.

The crash caused significant damage to the porch and side of the house, they said.

Flask was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with severe leg injuries. He had no passengers in the car.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. Charges are pending.
