Submit information on services for Christmas, New Year

The Vindicator will publish a listing of area services that are open to the public in observance of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

The Christmas services list will run on the Religion page Dec. 20 and the New Year’s list will run Dec. 27.

The deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. Dec. 17.

Information should include the denomination and name of the church, address, city or suburb and day and time of services.

The information should be accompanied by a name and a phone number for verification or any questions.

Lessons and carols

YOUNGSTOWN

St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St., will present the annual Advent Service of Lessons and Carols at 7 p.m. Nov. 30.

The program will feature the Cathedral Choir directed by Daniel Laginya with organist Mary Ann Bilas Bush and youths of the parish portraying the nativity narrative.

There is free parking and security provided.

A reception will follow.

Concert service

POLAND

Dan Schall will present special concert services at 9 and 11 a.m. Nov. 30 at Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road.

Schall had a severe speech impediment as a teen and still stutters. His singing voice is unhampered.

Interim pastor

CANFIELD

David Parry is interim minister at Paradise Church, 10020 New Buffalo Road.

Pastor Parry received a doctor of ministry from Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, Ohio, and master of divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

He has served as adjunct lecturer at Malone College in Canton and thesis adviser at Ashland College.

Most recently he served as associate pastor at Western Reserve United Methodist Church and continues as chaplain at Copeland Oaks in Sebring.

Services are at 9:30 a.m. Sundays followed by Sunday school with classes for children and adults.

YOUNGSTOWN

Union Baptist Church, 528 Lincoln Ave., will host its annual Church Growth Conference from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 2-4 at the church.

Pastor James Cherry of Antioch Baptist Church in Rochester, N.Y., will speak on “Black Presence in the Bible;” Pastor Talmage Thomas of the City of Zion in Toledo, Ohio, “Experience God’s Presence;” Pastor Avan Odom of Friendship Baptist Church in Warren, “Partner with the Pastor;” and Pastor Michael H. Harrison, host pastor, “Discover our Destiny.”
