Spaghetti dinner canceled at church

A spaghetti dinner originally scheduled for Sunday by Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church social hall, 252 E. Wood St., has been canceled.

Fundraiser Sunday at Angels for Animals

CANFIELD

A Texas Hold’em Poker fundraiser will start at 11 a.m. Sunday in Andrews Hall at Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road.

The tournament will begin at 1 p.m. There is an $80 buy-in; participants must register in advance for an extra $500 chip.

There will be free food and a cash bar.

Participants must be at least 18 to play and 21 to drink.

Proceeds benefit Angels programs.

Dinner will benefit Frank Zeigler

YOUNGSTOWN

JAD Equipment Co., 1208 Ameritch Blvd., will host a benefit spaghetti dinner from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 13 in support of Frank Zeigler, who is battling cancer of the esophagus.

He is unable to work at this time to support his family.

The fundraiser comprises a spaghetti dinner, basket auction and 50-50 raffle along with other family activities.

The dinner includes bread, salad dessert and a beverage for $8 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets will be sold in advance at 330-746-6100 or at the door.

Christmas lights contest is planned

YOUNGSTOWN

The Brownlee Woods Neighborhood Association will co-sponsor a Christmas lights tour and contest in partnership with Boulevard Park Block Watch beginning at 6 p.m. Dec. 19.

The bus tour begins at Faith Community Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd., and will visit both neighborhoods. Tour participants will then return to the church for refreshments and voting for their favorite decorated homes.

Residents who wish to participate and have their home judged may register with the organizations at 330-782-1022 for Brownlee Woods and 330-501-5255 for Boulevard Park.

Registration is required to enter the contest.
