Township police arrested a Youngstown woman Thursday on robbery, vandalism and weapons charges after police said she sprayed a store employee with pepper spray after attempting to steal merchandise from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall, 7401 Market St.

According to a police report, Shanreka Jones, 31, and another female suspect took clothing into a dressing room and then tried to steal it.

When store employees confronted them, Jones sprayed one employee in the face with pepper spray. She also had a stun gun in her possession.

The other suspect fled.

Store employees told police Jones damaged more than $2,000 worth of merchandise with the pepper spray.

They also reported that one of the suspects urinated in one of the fitting rooms.

Jones was arrested on one felony count each of robbery and vandalism, and a misdemeanor count of carrying concealed weapons. Police also discovered an active arrest warrant for her out of Trumbull County for failure to appear on a larceny charge.

She is in the Mahoning County jail and is set to appear in Mahoning County Area Court on Tuesday for an arraignment.
