POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Nov. 9

Menacing: A Hamilton Avenue woman told police she had been threatened.

Nov. 15

Harassment: An Elmland Avenue woman said her former boyfriend has sent unwanted correspondence to her via email, Instagram and text message.

Drug paraphernalia: A traffic stop near U.S. Route 224 and state Route 170 resulted in a minor-misdemeanor citation charging 19-year-old Karli M. Wilson of Second Street, Masury, with having a suspected marijuana pipe.

BOARDMAN

Nov. 13

Aggravated menacing: A Youngstown woman in the 8400 block of Market Street reported another woman threatened to shoot up the accuser’s home.

Assault: Police received word of a fight between two high-school students on a school bus in the 100 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A woman reported a 32-inch flat-screen TV stolen from her Cook Avenue apartment.

Harassment: An Applewood Boulevard woman reported having received a series of derogatory, offensive text messages.

Criminal mischief: An Afton Avenue woman found cigarette butts on her car’s windshield and a plastic bracelet on its passenger-side mirror.

Theft: Indo’neasha R. Terry, 19, of East Ravenwood Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing a pregnancy-test kit and other small items from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Nov. 14

Burglary: Took place in the 8500 block of Ivy Hill Drive via a front window. Among items stolen were $2,500 and a safe.

Fraud: A Holbrooke Road man reported a woman claiming to represent the Association of American Retired Persons organization told the accuser that a story pertaining to caregiving would be published about him. The man became suspicious, however, and contacted AARP, which was unaware of such a program.

Burglary: To a residence in the 5000 block of Irma Avenue through the front door. An estimated $23,250 in jewelry and cash was taken.

Theft: Brandon M. Cole, 18, of Tremble Avenue, and Breylan L. Thomas, 19, of Hyatt Avenue, were charged. The two Campbell men were accused of stealing about $59 worth of clothing, including a sweatshirt, from Walmart.

Harassment: A Leighton Avenue woman reported having gotten about 100 daily vulgar and degrading text messages during the past month.

Robbery: Harold H. Blair Jr., 51, who listed Youngstown addresses on East Midlothian Boulevard and West Earle Avenue, faced charges of robbery and theft after six packages of steaks were stolen from Save-a-Lot, 223 Boardman-Canfield Road. Blair also had a razor knife in his pocket, authorities said.

Drugs: Officers answered a call regarding a possible disturbance on Angiline Drive before charging Melissa A. Manley of Angiline, Boardman, with one felony drug-abuse charge and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug-abuse instruments. Found in the 32-year-old Manley’s purse was a fluid thought to be suspected heroin, and a hypodermic needle, a report stated.

Theft: Police charged 18-year-old Tyrone K. Curry Jr. of High Street, Youngstown, in the theft of $41 worth of children’s clothing and food from Walmart.

Theft: Authorities charged Kayla N. Farrant, 19, of Pineridge Court, Austintown, and Ryan J. Lanzo, 20, of Applewood Boulevard, Boardman, with theft and complicity to theft, respectively, after miscellaneous Cleveland Browns memorabilia was stolen from Touchdown Gifts & More in Southern Park Mall.

Nov. 15

Assault: A Struthers man alleged that during a fight at a Doral Drive big-box store, a woman grabbed him. The accuser had a bite on his right forearm, a report said.

Attempted burglary: Someone apparently pushed a screen window partially up in an effort to break into an apartment in the 600 block of Cook Avenue.

Domestic violence: A 17-year-old township boy was accused of pushing a family member during a heated argument between them.

Theft: Gloria E. Lykens, 24, faced a theft charge after authorities alleged Lykens, of North Liberty Street, East Palestine, had stolen $160 worth of clothing from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.

Fraud: A Tam-o-Shanter Drive man learned that someone had forged a signature on a bill of sale for a motorcycle.

Harassment: A Westview Drive woman said a former friend has sent her unwanted text messages.

Possible theft: A Canfield woman reported her wallet lost or stolen while at Shops at Boardman Park.

Nov. 16

Arrest: Police responded to a fight on Tippecanoe Road, where they took into custody 43-year-old Cheryl E. Baird of Westchester Drive, Austintown, on charges of disorderly conduct and obstructing official business. An intoxicated Baird continually yelled at police and the other person, refused several times to desist and hampered the investigation, a report showed.

Theft: Authorities picked up 28-year-old Ashley L. Altomare, who listed Youngstown addresses on Shirley Road and Arlington Street, on a theft warrant related to a June 26 shoplifting situation. She was accused of stealing $19.50 worth of merchandise from Dollar General, 869 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Possible theft by deception: A Hunters Ridge Drive man told officers he received a letter seeking donations, though the correspondence contained neither a return address nor the author’s name.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Kiowa Drive man said another man borrowed but never returned the accuser’s 1999 Buick Regal.

Nov. 17

Domestic violence: A Boardman boy, 12, was accused of repeatedly punching his foster mother’s face during an argument related to discipline matters.

Theft: Ross D. Deweese of Furnace Street, Mineral Ridge, was charged after officers alleged the 24-year-old man had stolen roughly $89 worth of property, including a pair of boots, from Walmart.

Harassment: A Red Tail Hawk Drive man said he’s received a series of daily unwanted text messages and emails regarding a job loss from the accuser’s business.

Nov. 18

Citation: Officers responded to a car in a ditch near Newport Drive, where they cited 48-year-old James R. Price Jr. of South Hazelwood Avenue, Youngstown, on charges of operating a vehicle impaired and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
