CAMPBELL

A New Castle, Pa., man and woman will have hearings in municipal court next week after their arrest on drug charges.

According to reports, police pulled over a car driven by Hayley Davis, 25, of English Avenue in New Castle, at McCartney Road near Lettie Avenue because of an obstructed windshield about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Davis and a passenger, Christopher Nixon, 24, of Dixon Street in New Castle, were asked to step out of the car so a drug-sniffing police dog could do a free air sniff around their car.

The dog alerted on the driver’s side door, and Davis then told police she had a small amount of marijuana under the driver’s seat. Officers found a small amount of the drug inside a small wallet along with several remains of marijuana cigarettes, a marijuana grinder and plastic bags.

Nixon was then searched, and a small scale with a powdery substance was found in his pockets, reports said. Both were placed under arrest.

At the city jail, Nixon was searched again and police found a bag of suspected heroin in his underwear and several plastic bags.

He was booked into the jail on charges of possession of heroin and illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility, both felonies, as well as a misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and a seat-belt violation.

He was held in the jail until his arraignment in municipal court next week.

Davis is charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors, and a seat-belt violation.

She was free pending her arraignment Tuesday in municipal court on $325 bond.
