Hollywood Gaming plans Monday ceremony to launch racing season

Live racing at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course will officially kick off on Monday.

Penn National Inc., the company that brought the racino to the Mahoning Valley, has a grand opening scheduled.

Ceremonies for the 21-day inaugural live-thoroughbred racing season will start at noon with an inaugural race scheduled for 12:45 p.m. Monday.

Hollywood Gaming will feature thoroughbred racing on its one-mile track Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays over the winter racing season. Those races will all be in the afternoon, mostly beginning between 12:30 and 1 p.m. The minimum bet for a live race is $2.
