Boardman middle schools will present holiday concerts
The Boardman Middle Schools will present holiday concerts in December. There will be a fifth- and seventh-grade band holiday concert on Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Boardman High School Performing Arts Center.
The concert will open with the seventh-grade jazz ensemble. Many students are featured on improvisation solos in various musical styles from both Center and Glenwood Middle School.
This concert continues with the fifth- and seventh-grade bands combined from Center and Glenwood. Popular favorites include “Stronger,” as recorded by Kelly Clarkson, and “Happy” from “Despicable Me 2.” The bands will perform many holiday favorites, including “Jingle Bells,” “Jolly Old St. Nicholas” and “Jingle Bell Rock.”
There will be a sixth- and eighth-grade band holiday concert featuring the combined Center and Glenwood eighth-grade jazz ensemble on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Boardman High School Performing Arts Center. This concert will showcase the combined efforts of Boardman Center and Glenwood Middle School band programs.

Also featured will be the sixth- and eighth-grade bands on several holiday favorites, including a “Concerto for Sleigh Bells and Band” and a brass quartet on “Christmas Bells and Brass.” Popular favorites include “Royals,” as recorded by Lorde, and a medley of Beatles songs titled “Meet the Beatles.”
Admission/donations will be accepted at the door. The cost is $3 for adults, $2 for students and senior citizens and children under 10 are free.
