Ohio Supreme Court indefinitely suspends Poland lawyer

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Supreme Court has indefinitely suspended William Charles Helbley Jr. of Poland from law practice in the state after his felony conviction.

Helbley was sentenced in 2012 in a federal criminal case to three year’s probation and to make $381,827 in restitution after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Helbley’s case was a complex investment scheme involving falsely inflated appraisals and more than $7.5 million in mortgage loans, court records show.
