BBB introduces scholarship program
YOUNGSTOWN — Five high school seniors who are the child or grandchild of owners or employees of accredited businesses in the Mahoning Valley have a shot at receiving a scholarship from the Better Business Bureau’s new Ethics and Integrity Scholarship Program.
The announcement of the program came at the first Annual Meeting of Accredited Businesses at the Covelli Centre where more than 100 accredited business members gathered this morning with speaker Jim Tressel, president of Youngstown State University.
“The best part about being back at YSU is reconnecting with people,” Tressel said.
Many of those people, he said, were in the room today. They were the business owners, operators and representatives who give YSU students outlets to go to for internships and other opportunities. He told the crowd that while the university has done a good job of marketing to the local area, it is time to expand that reach and continue to improve.
“We have been out beating the pavement,” he said.
