Sharon expands cardiac program
SHARON, PA.
The Heart and Vascular Institute at Sharon Regional Health System has expanded its cardiac rehabilitation program that is designed to help cardiac patients reach their full potential.
It is based on standards established by the American Heart Association and the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Patients with stable, chronic heart failure who enter the program will have a customized exercise program designed for them by the evaluating physician, cardiologist and cardiac nurse. Factors considered in designing the program include cardiac conditioning, age, sex, type of cardiac disease and lifestyle. For information, call 724-983-3882.
Therapy offered for work injuries
HOWLAND
Ohio Pain and Rehabilitation, 8323 E. Market St., has opened and is offering chiropractic care, physical therapy, treatments for work injuries and auto accident victims and orthopedic surgeries.
The facility’s multidiscipline team approach to treatment includes medical doctors, spine and extremity surgeons, chiropractic physicians, physical therapists, exercise physiologists and massage therapists.

Instructor training

The American Red Cross of Northern Ohio, in partnership with Gateways to Better Living, is offering CPR/AED/1st Aid Instructor Training on Dec. 8 and Dec. 10.
Instructor candidates must be certified in adult and pediatric CPR/AED and first aid and complete a Web-based portion of training before the class room dates.

Top performer gets recognition
LIBERTY
Belmont Pines Hospital, 615 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, was recently recognized as a 2013 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health-care organizations in the United States.
Belmont Pines had to meet three performance criteria: cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures; performance of 95 percent or above on every reported accountability measure where there were at least 30 denominator cases; and have at least one core measure set that had a composite rate of at least 95 percent.
3-year certification
WARREN
ValleyCare Health System of Ohio’s cardiac rehabilitation program at Trumbull Memorial Hospital recently received a three-year certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
The program was recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care designed to help people with cardiovascular problems — heart attacks, coronary artery-bypass-graft surgeries — recover faster and improve their quality of life.
