Murder charge upheld for man in wife’s death

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A first-degree murder charge has been upheld for a Philadelphia man accused of killing his wife while she was out on an evening jog.

Christopher Murray sat with his head in his hands for about a half-hour in court today as a detective read his police statement in which he says he followed his wife and they argued about an “emotional affair” he had with a woman he was texting.

Murray says in his police statement that his wife Connie slapped him and “it just went south from there.”

Authorities say the 46-year-old mother of two was strangled in August. Murray initially told the Philadelphia Daily News that her death was “devastating.”

Murray’s public defender argued that there was no intent.

He’s due back in court next month.
