Boardman High presents ‘Cabaret’

BOARDMAN

The Boardman High School Drama Guild will present the musical “Cabaret” in the Boardman Performing Arts Center, 7777 Glenwood Ave., at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.

Emily Auth and Braxton Mendez will perform the lead roles of Sally Bowles and the Emcee. The show is directed by Nick Opritza.

“Cabaret” has adult themes and is recommended for people 13 and older. For tickets, call 330-259-3333 or go to boardmandramaguild.org. A limited number of cabaret table seats, which allow audience members to feel they are part of the show, are also available.

Stambaugh Youth Concert Band

The Stambaugh Youth Concert Band will present its annual fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. Tickets are available at the box office, online at stambaughauditorium.com, and by phone at 330-259-0555.

The SYCB is comprised of the top high school musicians from the region and is under the direction of conductors John Veneskey and Brandt Payne, percussion instructor Tyler Husosky, and librarian Nick Marzuola.

New host visiting Letterman’s show

NEW YORK

Before he begins his own late-night show, James Corden is paying a visit to David Letterman.

Corden is replacing Craig Ferguson next year on “The Late Late Show,” the CBS late-night program that immediately follows Letterman on the schedule. Ferguson is signing off on Dec. 19, and Corden makes his debut on March 9.

Corden’s first appearance on Letterman’s show is scheduled this Friday. The Tony Award-winning actor is featured in the new film “Into the Woods,” opening on Christmas Day.

Television producer Norman Lear and musicians TV on the Radio will also be on Letterman on Friday.
