High school coach loses job after hazing scandal

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A suburban Philadelphia football coach suspended amid a hazing scandal is out as coach.

School officials said today that a review had found that Brian Hensel and his coaching staff at Central Bucks High School West failed to adequately supervise the team the entire season.

Hensel and his staff were also faulted for not having signed a code of conduct.

The team’s final two games were earlier cancelled after an investigation uncovered what the superintendent called “humiliating” initiation rites. He said they included a requirement that rookies grab other player’s genitals while fully clothed.

Suspensions of assistant coaches were lifted but it will be up to the next head coach to decide if they stay on.

Hensel’s attorney was unaware of the decision when contacted and had no immediate comment.
