Former Detroit cop sentenced in sexual assault
DETROIT (AP) — A former Detroit police officer convicted of sexually assaulting a woman after he responded to a domestic-violence complaint will spend 19 months to 15 years in prison.
Wayne County Circuit Judge Vonda Evans sentenced 40-year-old Deon Nunlee today for second-degree criminal sexual conduct and misconduct.
Nunlee quit the police after the sexual assault complaint. He was convicted after a plea deal.
The woman called 911 on Oct. 30, 2013, to report an incident involving her boyfriend. She testified during Nunlee's preliminary examination that the sexual assault took place in a bedroom while Nunlee's partner was questioning her boyfriend in another part of the house.
Police Chief James Craig says DNA evidence connected Nunlee to the sexual assault.
