YOUNGSTOWN

Chris Yambar, internationally known artist and Youngstown native, has donated signed copies of Bart Simpson comics and original sketches to The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley to be given as premiums to anyone making a $25 or $50 donation through Dec. 25 or while supplies last.

Donors giving $25 will receive a single signed copy of a Bart Simpson comic; those giving $50 will receive the comic plus a sketch of the popular TV character that Yambar can personalize for the donor.

Chaney grants

YOUNGSTOWN

Two teachers in Chaney High School’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics program each received $500 STEM Classroom Grants from FirstEnergy for classroom projects. Students in Sharon Ragan’s eighth-grade class plan to design and build a model tool shed using environmentally conscious design techniques. Students in Ben Dooley’s Computer Club will design, build and program a fully functioning Raspberry Pi computer. FirstEnergy supports classroom projects and teacher professional-development initiatives focusing on science, technology, engineering and math.

Hair-, nail-a-thon

CANFIELD

Seniors in the cosmetology program at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, will host a hair- and nail-a-thon from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the center’s salon.

Services available will be haircuts, blow drying, styling, waxing and manicures for $8. Proceeds will go toward the senior-class trip to Columbus to take state board exams. For information or to make an appointment, call Lisa Argiro, cosmetology instructor, at 330-729-4000, ext. 1310.
