Two students sent home after fight
BOARDMAN
A Lowellville student and Poland student were sent home after a fight on a school bus Thursday morning in the township.
A police report said that a bus driver was westbound on U.S. Route 224 about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday when she noticed a fight on the vehicle and pulled into Denny’s, 154 Boardman-Canfield Road, to alert authorities.
Police arrived and took the two boys to the township police station, which is what the Poland Board of Education wanted, a police report detailed.
One of the boys, 18, of Poland, who suffered a lip wound, told police he was sitting next to the 17-year-old from Lowellville, and jokingly pushed him. That resulted in the other boy punching him in the head and face, the student told police.
The Lowellville boy told police he responded by punching because he had recently been the victim of bullying and could not distinguish between a playful push and further bullying.
