Housing sales up in Mahoning, Trumbull, down in Columbiana

Mahoning County saw a 22.2 percent increase in the median price for local housing sales in October.

The median sales price for county homes was $77,000 last month compared with the $63,000 sales price in October 2013, according to data released Friday by the Youngstown/Columbiana Association of Realtors and the Warren Area Board of Realtors.

Columbiana County’s median home sales price decreased by 17.6 percent at $70,000 last month compared with $85,000 in October 2013. Trumbull County, however, had an increase of 15.4 percent to $79,001. The median home-sales price in October 2013 was $68,450.

Mahoning also had a 7.6 percent increase in closed housing sales. In October 2013 there were 210 houses sold, which increased to 226 last month.

There were slightly fewer houses sold in Columbiana last month with a 4.2 percent decrease. In October 2013 there were 72 houses sold, and last month there were 69.

Trumbull’s closed housing sales rose from 161 in October 2013 to 179 last month, a 11.2 percent increase.
