The Bruno Groening Circle of Friends will have a 90-minute lecture, featuring Arlene Barkan, leader of the Youngstown and Cleveland Communities, and Internet Children’s Community of North America, at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St.

A documentary film will be shown. Admission is free.

The Circle of Friends is not affiliated with Lord of Life or any other religion.

Bruno Groening (1906-59) was a German healer who taught about the power of faith in overcoming disease. The Circle of Friends passes on his teachings through information lectures.

Thanksgiving event

“Fresh” Church, 3147 Glenwood Ave., will host a family and friends Thanksgiving service at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Guests will be Kingdom Movement and Nikki Jordan.

Free food will be served to the community immediately after service.

Cameron Bowman is the host pastor.

Pastoral anniversary

Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 1232 Hill St., will celebrate the fifth anniversary of Pastor Samuel G. Holmes Jr. at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Guest speaker will be his brother, Pastor Dion Holmes of Christian Love Missionary Baptist Church.

Licensed to preach

YOUNGSTOWN

Sandra Miles will be licensed for preaching at 3 p.m. Sunday at Greater Friendship Baptist Church, 646 Lakewood Ave., where Elder James C. Bowie is pastor.

She serves as vice chairwoman of Women of Worship ministry and musical director and teaches Sunday School.

She accepted her call in April 2013. Miles will begin studies at Moody Bible Institute in January.

She and her husband, Deacon Richard Miles, have been married 45 years. They have three children and six grandchildren.

Revival planned

YOUNGSTOWN

Price Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church, 920 Dryden Ave., will host “Ignite the Fire Revival Part I” next week. Services, all at 6:30 p.m, will featue the Rev. Ernest Ellis of Antioch Baptist Church on Tuesday; Pastor Christopher McKee Jr. of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Wednesday; and Bishop C. Shawn Tyson of Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church on Thursday.
