Free tickets for Traficant public celebration available Monday

Free tickets will be available starting Monday for a Nov. 30 public celebration at the DeYor Performing Arts Center’s Edward W. Powers Auditorium of the life and accomplishments of former U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr.
The event is being organized with the cooperation of Traficant’s family.
The DeYor box office will open at 10 a.m. Monday with tickets given away on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a limit of four tickets per person.
Out-of-town guests can contact the box office at 330-744-0264 for tickets to be reserved and picked up the day of the event. Tickets are required to attend the event.
The doors at Powers will open at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 30 for the celebration that will begin at 2 p.m. that day. Guests arriving before the program will be able to view Traficant memorabilia and sign tribute pages for his family.
Also, updates can be found on a “Traficant Tribute” Facebook page that had close to 1,300 likes as of late Thursday. The Facebook page asks people to share photographs of Traficant to be used as part of a video tribute to him.
Powers can hold up to 2,300 people, but there is discussion of increasing that number if needed.
More details, including guests and speakers, will be announced soon, according to a statement from Traficant’s family.
Traficant died Sept. 27, four days after a tractor he was driving on his family farm in Greenford fell on top of him, making him unable to breathe. He was 73.
