Student charged in plot to bomb ATM

MONTOURSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Police say three central Pennsylvania technology students plotted to bomb an ATM so they could steal the cash inside.

Montoursville police this week charged 21-year-old Meade Hamilton Lewis with possessing a weapon of mass destruction, possession of explosive material and theft in connection with the alleged November 2013 plot.

Williamsport’s Sun-Gazette reports the two other men are cooperating with prosecutors and have not been charged.

Police say the former Pennsylvania College of Technology students conspired to duct tape a bomb to a Muncy Bank ATM but failed to detonate the device because its wires kept getting undone.

Lewis, Neiko Pratt and Jordan Christopher Smith were previously charged with trying to break into a South Williamsport ATM and causing $40,000 in damage.
