The Mahoning County grand jury Thursday indicted a 58-year-old Boardman man on charges of attempted murder, felonious assault, domestic violence, kidnapping and disrupting public services stemming from a quarrel with his live-in girlfriend last month.

Orlando Torres was arrested Oct. 6 at his residence in the 4500 block of South Avenue after his live-in girlfriend called 911 and reported to officers that Torres had punched her in the face multiple times, held a pillow over her face for several minutes, held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her, according to a police report.

Police dispatchers and officers heard some of the incident unfolding, including a death threat, when the victim called 911 and when police called her to find out where she was, according to the report.
