Since opening their indoor Austintown Bounce facility five years ago, co-owners Bruce Shepas and Harold Porter have hosted a yearly Halloween party for area children to come in their costumes and play in the bounce houses.

This year’s party was on Oct. 19 at the Austintown Bounce, located at 4317 Kirk Road. Shepas said the party attracts an average of 50-100 children, with approximately 60 attending this year.

Each child who attended received popcorn, a fountain drink and a treat bag. Also served were pizza, hot dogs, nachos and other concessions available for purchase.

“These type of events were discussed as soon as we opened,” Shepas said. “Being active fathers in our kids’ lives, we know how important it is to spend time as a family. It’s about the kids. Always will be. So let’s make some memories and have little fun.”

In addition to being able to play in the bounce houses, the children could also participate in trick or treat stations located throughout the facility, several drawings, a guessing game, hot pumpkin or ring toss. Prizes were awarded for each game and drawing.

Shepas said he felt the event came off well.

“Great, it’s always a good time seeing our community come out and spend time with their children,” he said.

There were several creative costumes on display. Shepas said he was especially impressed by a child dressed as a headless man, while Minecraft-themed costumes were very popular.

Shepas said Austintown Bounce also hosts similar events for Christmas and Easter. Anyone seeking more information on the events can go to the business’s website at AutintownBounce.com.
