Roddy heart attack

Struthers Police Chief Tim Roddy suffered a heart attack Sunday, said Mayor Terry Stocker. Roddy was taken to St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital. Stocker said Capt. Pat Bundy will serve as acting chief until Roddy returns.
“His condition seems to be satisfactory now,” Stocker said Tuesday.
Bundy said Roddy will be out of the hospital within the next 24 hours. He said the chief will likely return to his post by Monday after a couple days rest.
Disabled girl found in filth by police
WARREN
Trumbull County Children Services Board is investigating after a 15-year-old girl was found filthy and covered in feces in a Beck Street SE house about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A city police spokesman said the girl is legally blind and staying with a friend when she was found by police. Police managed to contact her mother and the pair were interviewed at the house by CSB workers before they were transferred to the CSB facility on Reeves Road for further interviews.
The spokesman said authorities believe the girl has not had a bath in at least two weeks. He said it was unknown if she was covered in animal feces or her own.
‘For the Love of Food’ free screening Thur.

The Mahoning Valley Food Coalition will show a free screening of the film “For the Love of Food” with a question and answer session with the filmmaker, Brad Masi. It will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Raymond J. Wean Foundation, 147 W. Market St. Free parking is available in the Franklin Street Parking Deck behind the Wean building.
The coalition is presenting the film as the culminating event of their 2014 Food + Farming Film Series that took place at locations throughout the Mahoning Valley. MVFC seeks to increase awareness of the local food system, sustainable agricultural practices and nutritious eating.
Facebook followers ID Niles suspect
NILES
Facebook followers of the Niles Police Department are being credited with identifying another crime suspect.
The department posted a surveillance photo of a suspect who shoplifted at the Sears store in Eastwood Mall and fought with employees trying to detain him a month ago.
Last weekend, the department posted a booking mug of John P. Kellar, 39, who has various addresses in Warren and Niles and who has been charged with felony robbery, after getting help from the public in identifying him in the case. As of Tuesday, he was not in custody.
The department says its Facebook followers are “undefeated so far this year in identifying suspects.”

Weathersfield Township Fire Chief Randy Pugh will dedicate and place into service the fire department’s new 2015 pumper firetruck at the township fire station, 2229 Gardenland Ave., at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Offer public comment at Boardman meeting

Zoning Inspector Sarah Gartland will host an open house in the township zoning office, 8299 Market St., from 5 to 7 p.m. today and Thursday.
Residents and local business owners are encouraged to attend to learn about how zoning affects them and to offer comment.
Current issues such as landlord registration, zone changes and neighborhood stabilization will be presented.
Zoning staff will be available to answer questions. Light refreshments will be served.
