Lowellville tackles an increasing number of construction projects
Staff report
LOWELLVILLE
Lowellville faces a flurry of construction projects within the next year. Mayor James Iudiciani shared with city council Tuesday various projects slated: $20,000 to fix catch basins in the city; new restrooms for city hall; a lighting project on Water Street; Lowellville dam removal; and a $940,000 sewage-treatment-plant project, to name a few.
Iudiciani said a special public meeting will take place at 8:30 a.m. Thursday to discuss progress on the sewage-plant project.
He also noted that the dam-removal project is not in jeopardy, even though it’s been pushed back. The project was scheduled to be completed last fall.
In other business, Police Chief Ryan Bonacci presented an award to Officer Dan Lamping for his community service a couple weeks ago.
“Lamping went to help a woman who collapsed outside a building,” Bonacci said. “Even though this happened outside of Lowellville, Lamping represents us at all times.”
Bonacci also noted that the police department received a traffic safety award from AAA Thursday morning.
Council’s next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 17 on the second floor of city hall, 140 E. Liberty Street.
