Ban on boxes tabled
GIRARD
City council tabled an ordinance that would have banned all clothing donation boxes in the city.
The council tabled it Monday as it was set to be read for a third time.
The lawmakers will consider other options for the boxes. Representatives from some companies who place the boxes in front of businesses had requested that the council reconsider banning them completely.
Council acted because of concerns the boxes sometimes overflow and are a draw for trash and debris.
