Area health centers will change names

YOUNGSTOWN

This month, Humility of Mary Health Partners’ name change to Mercy Health will also result in the change of the names of its three health centers.

St. Elizabeth Health Center will become St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, St. Joseph Health Center will become St. Joseph Warren Hospital, and St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center will become St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Also, HMHP Physician Associates, its employed physician group, will become Mercy Health Physicians.

The changes are in name only. All services, locations, modes of operation, care providers, administrators and employees will remain the same, HMHP officials said.

This name transition began in July when Catholic Health Partners, HMHP’s parent, changed its name to Mercy Health. At that time, it was determined that all CHP markets would eventually mirror that name change.

Falling oil prices cause county to hold off on fracking

ASHTABULA

Officials in Northeast Ohio say drilling in shale deposits is on hold due to decreasing oil prices.

The Star-Beacon in Ashtabula reported that although geographic studies have shown there are large shale deposits throughout Ashtabula County, hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is on hold due to economic reasons.

State Rep. John Patterson of Jefferson told the newspaper that a decrease in oil prices has reduced the demand for fracking over the short term.

Officials also are looking into potential problems with fracking in the area, specifically earthquake risks and how to transport the oil once it’s taken from the ground.
