A free seminar on “Reversing Memory Loss” is offered by Dr. Ted Suzelis at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ohio Naturopathic Wellness Center in Boardman (SouthBridge West Complex, behind Second Sole) 755 Boardman-Canfield Road, Suite D-3.

The seminar offers methods to improve and keep memory. Dr. Suzelis will discuss factors related to deteriorating memory as individuals age and natural methods to improve memory.

Free seminar on holiday meals

YOUNGSTOWN

Danielle MacDuf, a local doctor of naturopathy, is offering a free seminar at 6 p.m. Thursday at I.T.T. Technical Center, 1030 N. Meridian Road.

During the seminar, she will discuss how to plan healthy holiday meals while still being able to eat favorite foods; and she will demonstrate how the 80/20 rule (wise lifestyle choices 80 percent of the time allow for goodies the other 20 percent of the time) applies to meal planning.

COPD health fair

HERMITAGE, PA.

Sharon Regional Health System’s Primary Care Resource Center is hosting a free health fair in conjunction with World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Day from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Diagnostic and Imaging Center, 2435 Garden Way. Speakers include Dr. Nevin Kosic, pulmonology specialist; Kimberly Hunchuk, pulmonary rehab; Melanie Garrett-Inman, infection prevention and control; and Dr. Joe Pecorelli, psychologist.

Community resources, including durable medical equipment companies, pharmaceutical companies and ambulance services, will have displays and educational materials available.

Health and resource fair

The Youngstown Campus of National College, 3487 Belmont Ave., is offering a community health and resource fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 18. The event is free and open to the public. For information, call 330-759-0205.

Walgreens will offer flu shots, and Hometown Pharmacy, along with National College medical assisting students and instructors, will offer blood-pressure screenings. Information and resources on hospice care, substance abuse, financial services, dental health, GED classes and day-care services will be available.

Participating organizations include Western Reserve Transit Authority, Youngstown City Health District, Mahoning County District Board of Health, Small Smiles Dental, Jamboree Dental, Trumbull County ABLE (GED), Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic, Hospice of the Valley, Huntington Bank and Turning Point Counseling.

Well-child clinic

GIRARD

The Girard Health Department, 100 W. Main St., is offering its well-child immunization clinic Thursday in the Girard Health Department located in the city building.

Parents must pre-register children before the clinic. Call the Health Department at 330-545–6048 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for times and an appointment. A $10 fee will be charged per child.

Parents are reminded to bring a copy of the child’s immunization record, and that a parent or guardian must accompany children under 18.
