African Choir performs Thursday
YOUNGSTOWN
The African Children’s Choir will present a concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at Powers Auditorium. The choir, founded 30 years ago, is composed of children age 7 to 12 from several African nations. Many have lost one or both parents, and all are victims of extreme poverty.
The choir has released several recordings and has performed at major events and venues around the world.
Tickets are $25 for VIP seating; $15 for general admission; and $5 for youths age 5 to 12.

In addition to the concert, the choir will perform at a special presentation for students at the Chaney School of Visual & Performing Arts, 731 S. Hazelwood Ave.
Volunteers needed to help build tables
YOUNGSTOWN
Volunteers are needed at noon Saturday to help build wheelchair accessible garden tables at Youngstown Inner City Gardens, 3411 Idlewood Ave.
A hot lunch as well as hot and cold drinks will be provided to volunteers.
Volunteers who participate are urged to park on the corner of Hillman Street and Auburndale Avenue, or at the Inner City Gardens location.
