Fire damages New Castle pizzeria known for supplying PNC Park

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) — A Pittsburgh-area pizzeria known for supplying pies to PNC Park has been damaged by fire.

The owners of Augustine’s Pizza in New Castle say they’re assessing the impact of Saturday evening’s blaze.

No one was inside and no injuries were reported.

CEO Frank Augustine says the fire appeared to start in the kitchen of the five-decade old restaurant.

Augustine’s sells about 20,000 pizzas a year at PNC Park, the home of baseball’s Pittsburgh Pirates.

The restaurant sells take-out pizza during the week and started a line of frozen pizza last year.

They’re sold at area supermarkets and Wal-Mart stores.
